How Indie Hire works
Indie Hire lists independent New Zealand operators. You deal with them directly, and no money changes hands on this site.
The four steps
-
Find a vehicle
Search by place, dates and vehicle type. Every listing names the operator who owns it, with their town, how long they have been going and reviews from people who actually hired from them.
-
Send a request
Tell the operator your dates and anything they should know. You are not booking yet and you are not charged anything. The request goes to that one operator, unless you tick the box asking us to pass it on if they cannot help.
-
They reply to you
The operator confirms the vehicle is free, confirms the price for your dates, and answers your questions. They reply to you directly, usually by email. Indie Hire is not in the middle of that conversation.
-
You book and pay the operator
The hire agreement is between you and them. They set the price, the deposit, the insurance excess and the terms, and they take the payment. Indie Hire takes no payment and is not a party to your agreement.
If nobody replies
A request that has had no reply after 48 hours lapses. We tell you when that happens rather than leaving you wondering, and the operator's response time on this site reflects it. You are free to send a request to someone else at any point; nothing is exclusive.
What it costs you
Nothing. Indie Hire does not add a booking fee, a service fee or a margin to what the operator charges. The price you agree with them is the price.
